Another question... What's the success rate? i.e. is it guaranteed to work providing that it's definitely a G.P.U. problem?

yes this is a 100% new chip most so called technician will Reheat the chip and call it a repair the chip is dead!!!! so replace with NEW NEW NEW CHIP

 Help
Ok cool. I also have a HP DV5 that boots only to BIOS, but for some reason it won't boot from CD nor hard drive no matter what i do. What do you think is wrong, and what would it cost to fix it?

sounds like a dead Southbridge which platform is this Intel or AMD ?

Yes it can be repaired replace the south bridge would resolve the issue cost $5000
