Wasn't sure which section of the forum to put this. It's a printer and doesn't really fit in the home electronics section. Anyways - here's the details.
Make/Model: HP LaserJet P1006
Product No: CB411A
Asking Price: $15,000 (see full details below)
DETAILS
This is in my possession as the client doesn't want to do the repair. Basically it got hit by a surge and by my checks the formatter board is bad.
HP LaserJet P1006 Printer Formatter Main Board RM1-4608 RK21714 @ 4elec The formatter board part number is either RM1-4608 or RK21714. Searching for either one will give you similar results to the link above.
I recommended to the client that they should buy a used working printer and use it for now - if something else goes wrong (as long as it's not power related) the parts could be swapped. This was primarily because the formatter is about $40 and a replacement (used) printer goes between $50-$70. Also, while I feel the formatter is bad, it would be best to replace both the formatter and power boards. The power board part number is either RM1-4601 or RK21717. Some of the parts are interchangeable with some other models (like the P1005).
She's decided to sell it as is for parts. The toner is new (at a cost exceeding $10,000) and the printer would be easily fixed if you have the parts. So after some discussion a price of $15,000 was decided on.
For a bit more detail - the printer does not come on at all when power is connected. If the formatter board is removed then it power cycles properly - but no USB and no button to make it do self test/print. This would be a great buy if you already own a similar model with some mechanical problem. Link me via PM or the provided details below.
