Potential Buyers BEWARE.
Bought an original model PS3 from this seller on September 28, 2013. Came with console, power cable, HDMI cable, AV cable (red/white/yellow), wireless controller, 40gb internal hard drive, and 4 games.
First powering on the device at home, I realized that it kept blinking red and beeping three times. Research online shows this is the signal for general hardware failure. I specifically asked the buyer if the device had any hardware issues and the answer was "No, it works properly without issue."
The lights indicate that the power supply, hard drive, cpu or gpu could have failed or overheated, and I have deduced from research that the problem is probably in the solder holding the cpu/gpu to the motherboard. I am completely sure that this is CERTAINLY NOT an issue that could have developed on the day of transaction, but could only have happened through improper use.
After much tweaking, I managed to power on the device by setting it upright instead of the default horizontal position. It worked for about 5 minutes before shutting off. Again, I powered it on and it ran for around an hour. I managed to play a game perfectly during this time and powered it down to transfer to another room. Setting the device up, it ran again on a different tv for around 20 minutes. Powered it down once again, and then it refused to start since.
My calls have gone unanswered for five hours and the ps3 appears to be in need of repair work by a professional.
The warrante sticker has also been removed and the screws have been stripped of paint which means that the device has been opened and worked on previously. Disappointing buy to say the least, and repairing the device in Jamaica is costly. What I am left with is doubt about the honesty of the seller as well as a useless PS3.
