I bought one of these for myself to test a few and was so impressed. You can copy files to and from your flash drive all from your Android phone!  You can connect usb keyboards and mice as well. This little cable has changed the way I use my S3 and will change the way you think of your Android phone or tablet as well.

It works with the S2 and Nexus 7 as well as other devices.  Some require a specific rom with USB OTG built into the kernel.  You may need to do your own research before purchasing.

With the help of an app that allows the S3 to read/write HFS and ntfs, here I mounted a 2tb drive.
+++
Do note however that the 2TB drive was powered (connected to a power supply via an adaptor).  I don't think the S3 has enough power to power such a large drive by itself
