u thing sell off pupa  :wi:, the only thing stopping mi from buying this is because im a intel man, going from core 2 quad to  i7 soon

Title: Re: Extreme Gaming Pc
Post by: shadowwalker on December 14, 2011, 09:39:38 AM
This cpu has been overclocked so high, that it walks hand and hand with the core i7.
I could probly over clock it to 4.1ghz, thanks to the water cooling.

What do you like more gpu wise? nvidia or ATI?

Title: Re: Extreme Gaming Pc
Post by: Civicnitro on December 14, 2011, 09:53:27 AM
I wouldn't agree with the hand in hand with i7 but I'd say it's a great chip for gaming caz they run extremely well...nvidia ftw but hd6950s up for ati shot! :)

Title: Re: Extreme Gaming Pc
Post by: shadowwalker on December 14, 2011, 10:00:27 AM
True that. Well tested the cpu on stock clock and it got the same bench score as the i5. Over clocked it to 3.9ghz and it was 4% weaker than the 17 2600k. So I would say another 200ghz-300ghz would almost bring it to par. The ATI cards and nvidia cards are down to opion. Both great cards. I hear you can unlock the 6950 to a full 6970. Never tryed it tho. Raid hard drives are my fav part of the system. Loads up 2x fast now.

Post by: Civicnitro on December 14, 2011, 10:07:27 AM
Try getting sum sata 3 ssds, then you'll see speed, flash ur 6950s man that's wat they'r made for...first person I eva heard with those cards in cf and not running at 6970

Title: Re: Extreme Gaming Pc
Post by: shadowwalker on December 14, 2011, 10:16:41 AM
Iv got it running with sata 3 6gbs. There 500gb Black hard drives. Just got them a month ago. Runs like a dream.
The Problem with flashing the 6950. Is that the vram on the card runs at a diffrent wattage than the 6970.
There has been alot of long term problems with flashing the card. and switching back to the old bios does not fix it.
Its a risk to flash it, it also avoids the life time warranty the cards have.

Title: Re: Extreme Gaming Pc
Post by: Civicnitro on December 14, 2011, 10:27:39 AM
Traditional hdds still can't do the speeds that ssd does but yea you have the best hdd out there wd black...as for the 6970 flashing, I wouldn't really worry about flashing going bad hence why the lil switch is there but since it voids the warranty you spose to can put it back to 6950s bios if anything if you have to send it in stills...I'd say f dat den caz I know what it feels like to have an expensive card go bad and no warranty to turn to. Which is why I don't really like ati, too many bad experiences. I'd still go withs cards like urs up tho but I'm more of an nvdia person now

Post by: shadowwalker on December 14, 2011, 10:56:30 AM
Ya true, well I'm happy with this system. Made it myself and it came out fine. Not one game to date has drooped lower than 55fps like BattleField 3, Crysis 2 and 1, Farcry 2 and many others.

Nice setup. Be careful tho. The h70 is between the h50 and h60. When it comes down to cooling, It uses the old hydro pipes.
GTX560 is a nice card. Its got a lot of shaders for its price rang and a nice idle temp. The next gen on card are coming out in jan and feb,
Can't wait to see what is coming up next.

Going to start build my new pc. Just selling this one to make room for the next

This is the best gaming community in ja!. Beware tho the 6990 is the same price as 2 6970's. Also the 6990 has lower clocks than the 6970's and the 6950's in crossfire. So the only incentive to buy a duel GPU card like the 6990 is for less power usage and less heat. Think my next system is its going to have tri sli 570's or duel 580gtx's. Whats your guys dream pc?

Them open cases are boss. You just gota look out for dust. Might get myself a antec 1200 v3. Nice size and good cooling for the price range
