Title: BEWARE OF FAKE GALAXY S5
Post by: Zodaz on September 06, 2014, 06:01:00 PM
Met with seller iD Jettas to purchase a Galaxy S5 today Sept. 6 2014 and he gave me on in box and as i got it in my hand something did not feel right. Everything looked correct and the phone was quite responsive however it still did not feel right. Then i noticed the edges around the screen looked quite large, and the camera resolution was not good at all. The screen resolution could not compare to my note 3 even though it should be better, mind you the screen did look decent.

I proceeded to try out the fingerprint scanner which seemed to work... however i said let me try a finger i did not register and to my amusement it still worked, even worked on my knuckles. I tried out the heart rate monitor which seemed to work so i tried it with my finger off and to my amusement again it registered a heart beat even though i did not make contact with the sensor. And lastly i realised there is no Samsung app store... really now.

Just reminding fellow shoppers that we need to be vigilant in our purchases as you have scam artists like these lurking around, check your good properly and if you are rushed it's better your refuse than lose.

I went home and these videos corroborated my findings:

I check everyone I buy with the *#0*# diagnostics menu, it's a good way to check everything in the phone too

One good way to test is to put a benchmark app on it. the fakes will score very low.

that code works on the fake s5 also, I almost purchased 1, hw I realize it was fake is the screen resolution and the s health has a small icon up top which was strange and the home button kinda stiffer and the call screen is different, also once connected to wifi the "ok google" doesn't work.

Whoa! Looks like the fakes are 'improving'.... That used to be a sure way to check..

Thanks for the additional info...

Best way to check is to attempt to boot the phone into recovery using the button combo, if the combo is different from standard samsungs then that a clear redflag. It's near impossible to completely fake the bootloader software.

Same damn thing nearly reach me, went to buy one in Spanish town, I forgot the user's name on here, anyways when I felt the phone in my hand the quality was way different than what I felt in the Samsung store and the buttons felt stiff and the camera quality was rubbish even the screen was LCD instead of AMOLED, mind you though it had all the samsung apps installed and all the hardware stuff that the s5 had. don't let a "bargain" price catch you, it might be too good to be true, BTW if your not too aware of phones or electronics that regard it's good to take someone with you that does.
