I also just got the 50" W800B over the weekend and BB honored the $200 price drop as well for me. This set replaced a Panasonic ST60 that needed to be replaced through warranty, but couldn't be replaced b/c not made anymore. So they set me up with a Samsung 46" F7100, big mistake, picture was not crisp at all and there was always a lot of artifacting and noise, similar to dithering no matter what adjustments I made. The W800 rivals my W900 which is my main set in terms of natural colors and picture clarity / crispness. I'm quite sure the colors are better on the W900 panel but I can't notice it, I'm just a casual viewer and use the Disney WOW disc to calibrate. Plasma had better blacks obviously but this picture I have to say is crisper and sharper than the ST60. For $999 the W800B is a really sweet deal.


Just picked up the 800b at that price. The picture quality really is fantastic. I thought it was a 4k initially.


I really love it. I have a Panasonic plasma as well, and obviously the blacks and color accuracy are not as good. However, I actually like the overall picture on the sony better. The pop is there and it something I do not get from the plasma. I literally am captivated by the picture quality. My local best buy had one on display that I could play around with before purchasing. I highly recommend it and it is easily the best $1000 I have spent on a tv


For anyone wondering, I just found out why the new w800b series has such great picture quality. Both the 50" and 55" use the same PSA panel that was used in the w900a. So in essence you are getting the w900a, minus the quantum dots. This tv is a steal at the current price, and I am sure it is only going to get cheaper.


Picked up the 55w800b a few days ago. replaced a 7 year old 42" samsung plasma (4254) in the bedroom. i will say, the picture POPS right out of the box. Still getting used to the LED technology as my main room tv is a pioneer kuro (6020). Overall, very impressed and more than does the trick. My girl keeps commenting on how amazing the picture is. Blacks and detail are very good and well exceeded my expectations. I will try some of the settings seen in this thread as I want a more realistic feature (spending more time in the bedroom )
