US $5-Million Internet Upgrade to Offer Customers Faster, More Reliable Service
LIME ROLLS OUT 8MB INTERNET SERVICE | Wednesday, July 15, 2009
Kingston, Jamaica -
Following on its recent launch of Jamaica’s fastest 3G mobile service, LIME has announced the rollout of 8MB Internet service packages and price cuts up to 24 per cent on its residential packages to make internet service more affordable and accessible across the country.
The telecoms provider is pumping US $5-million into a major upgrade of its internet infrastructure to bring its customers faster speeds and more reliable service. The upgrade project, which will run from now until September, will allow LIME to begin offering an 8MB service package in select areas.
Through to September, LIME will be introducing its 8MB offering in Portmore, Montego Bay and communities across Kingston and St Andrew. Customers will now enjoy an enhanced Internet experience as the additional speed will facilitate faster access to many of their favourite online activities including online gaming, shopping, downloading music and movies, social networking, picture sharing, video streaming and much more.
“LIME is now offering 8MB in selected areas and by the time our upgrade project is finished in September, we will be offering 8MB in most of the residential areas where we have high Internet traffic and this will give our customers more than enough speed for all their favourite online activities,” said Geoff Houston, country Manager for LIME in Jamaica.
“We are making a major investment to improve our Internet backbone to give our customers world-class Internet service with faster speeds and consistent, reliable connectivity,” he added.

Its about time LIME step up there Internet Speed and make there internet price packages more affordable, FLOW is beating them in both, also claro is beating them in 3G

They gotta move faster at upgrading there infrastructure and offering better prices if they are to compete more aggressive for new subscribers,
just my 2 cents

LIME is too stupid i love their service but i hate their thoughts, they wait intil people talking bad think about them b4 they react, they allways be choosing kingston, portmore and as they say selected areas thats stupid yes you should upgrade where u have competition but you should also upgrade where your competitor hasn’t reached as yet by they time your competition reaches your customers as so pleased they won’t even look to their side, instead they wait and try to get back and by that time people already hate them. stupid idiots with allot of money and don’t know how to use it. Give me 1 billion J$ and i will run jamaica’s communication services in 2 years tops.
