Graphic tees, tube dresses, capris and sandals are must-haves in any girl's wardrobe, this school year.
There are many anxious high school students just waiting to embark on their tertiary education at fine institutions whether here or abroad. Their shopping list includes folder paper, pencils, pens and the most important item. clothes. The problem that most face is how to differentiate between going out clothes, regular clothes and school clothes. This depends on what is in your closet, your pocket, your own fashion sense and what you are comfortable wearing. TEENage is here to provide you with a simple guideline for this common dilemma.
Basics to invest in
As you must have heard many times from either parents or other elders, you’re going to school to learn not to look good. This is true. But there can be a balance in basic apparel that still looks fashion forward.
Tank Tops and White Tees
For the girls, tank tops are ideal for those hot school days and they can be bought in an assortment of colours and can be dressed up or down. White tees are an essential for both girls and guys as they can be worn by themselves with a pair of jeans or shorts and you will be on your way.
Polo Shirts
A polo shirt is a college essential for both girls and guys because it can be worn repeatedly and is also very fashionable with a pair of plaid shorts or long jeans.
Graphic Tees and Blouses
These elaborately designed shirts are a must for college apparel because they don’t need anything to dress them up and can easily make the transition from casual day at school to a night out with friends. A nice cotton blouse provides comfort and style to any outfit.

This tan plaid button-front shift dress is very comfortable in the first days of university life.
Dresses
Summer dresses are ideal for this scenario because they are casual enough for school and functional especially if they have pockets.

Skinny jeans are still in and this dark denim perfectly offsets this three-quarter cuffed pink plaid shirt with pencil belt.
Bottoms
One must realise that denim is not the only material for bottoms, and as such one can invest in cargo pants and soft materials, that will look fashionable for these hot days. Denim is still an old favourite and the best thing to do is play with lengths which range from long, short and three-quarter. Skirts are another type of bottoms that should be invested in because they are easy to work with and dress up and down.
Shoes
For the girls, flats and flip flops are suggested to deal with both the hot days; (flip flops) and the rainy days (flats). For the guys, slip-ons and Vans are first choice picks as they really can add to your gear and are also very comfortable. But here’s the trick, buy two pairs of shoes and wear them at least two times for the week. WHY? Wearing slippers all day every day will ruin your pedicure (even if it is DIY). Your heels will become hardened and cracked; and your feet will get dry from all the dust on campus. So protect your feet with some shoes.
The problem can easily be resolved by sticking to the listed items since they consist of all the fashionable clothes you normally wear with a more casual twist.
TEENage advises you to not just go back to school. just remember function and fashion can go hand in hand.
